The Shipping News

For once, this won't be a Ventura related note, but it's worth the damn note!

The amazing Shipping News has joined the Africantape roster for Europe, and will release their new album One Less Heartless To Fear on November 16.

Until then, a brand new track, called The Delicate, is available to download on the Africantape digital store, and iTunes.
If you don't feel like giving a tiny bit of your money to own this great track, you can listen to it there, or you can also piss off.

No more David Yow

We all went back home 4 days ago, David back to Los Angeles, and Ventura back to Lausanne.

It has been surely the most incredible 10 days in Ventura's career, and nothing will ever compete with this experience (unless next time, we go to LA and tour California with David).

This is impossible for us to write some sort of tour report, too many memorable moments, too many jokes, too many great conversations...it will all stay in our heads.

David Yow, son of a fighter pilot and a hillbilly, is a great man...in my pants.

Thank you, whoever you are, if you came to see us at one of these 5 shows.

Lozane's Burning X + David Yow

We have been asked to play the now worldwide famous Lozane's Burning event and as always, it will be held in Lausanne (Grande Salle de Vennes). It will take place on January 16th, 2010.
This evening will be very special, it will be the 10th anniversary of the event, and therefore will be the last one! But it will be also fucking special for Ventura.....we will have a guest, who will makes us look like kids and pussies.

David Yow from The Jesus Lizard, Qui and Scratch Acid has accepted our invitation, and will sing with us.

Did you fucking read that??

David fucking Yow will sing with Ventura!

There will also be some kind of collaboration, some kind of recording, some kind of video filming, and some kind of touring also. Everything is still very blurry for us, and the songs we will play is still being discussed

You can find more details about this, and the full line up of the evening here.

We look forward to welcoming you Mister David Yow!

Gone to the studio and came back

Well, here is the big one: we have recorded our second album last week.
Simple.
It will contain 9 songs, all of them are total hit. Now mastering is on its way. Followed by the cover and the pressing bullshit.
Can't fucking wait for this masterpiece to be released!

Serge Morattel was the genius behind the desk, hitting the buttons, bringing intensity to Ventura, and he will be forever a major inspiration to us!

Thank you Serge!

New gig added

Dear all,

We are more than excited to announce that we will play a gig in Bern, at the famous Dachstock.
It will take place on Saturday, September 19th.

We will share the stage with Future of the Left (from UK), who just released one the best album of year.

You better come, you gobshite.

Talking about future, ours is starting to look pretty bright. If everything goes as planned, we'll hit a studio in October to record our 2nd album.
We keep the studio's name secret for the moment, but just think about Knut, Nostromo, or Tantrum.

If you are smart enough, you'll get an idea about the man who'll be behind the mix.

2009

What are Ventura's plans for 2009?
I'll try to make it clear, because I do not want to repeat myself.

In May, we will record the sequel of Pa Capona, no idea how it's going to be called, but we know where we will record it.
The multi-instrumentalist-recordist-genius Garbiele from Disco Doom has accepted to welcome us in his Doom basement, and he will capture on tape what will come out of our amps.
I have a feeling it will be a lot of fun, and it will sound fantastic.
The record will be released by Get A Life! Records late 2009.

Some gigs will be planned here and there, we'll play anywhere we are welcomed.

And finally, Pa Capona is now available through iTunes. You know, the thing where you can buy music but you don't own it physically.

If Santa Claus forgot about you this year, or if again, your grand parents' gift was shitty like every year, come and enjoy some fantastic rock music with us!

We will play on December 26th at Le Romandie with the very old Favez from Lausanne.

One last thing, if you manage to spot what is wrong with this picture below, simply write us an email with your answer to info@vntr.net.
The first 3 winners will get all night free drinks from Ventura.

Gig update

A quick update to announce that we have been asked to share the stage with the great Dianogah, from Chicago.

The gig will take place on Tuesday, October 7th in Geneva (KAB/Usine).
Can't wait to hear their new tracks played live and also to meet the man behind those great gig posters.

So please, feel free to come and see us or get a fucking life!!

Gig with John Sars & Unhold

Our next gig planned will take place on September 26th at Sedel (in Luzern).
We will share the stage with John Sars, who are now part of the Ventura family, and the tremendous Unhold, who have recently released their new record Gold Cut.

If you believe Sunn O))) are real pussies who wear robes for homos and can only play songs tuned in C, come to the Sedel and you will listen to real good music.

26.6.08

The big thing previously announced is now officially out.

Hello (wonderful) Internet World,
We the people of Wentchoura are the proud parents of a seven inch.
It was born without major complications, weighs around 140grams and is now ready to join his
big brothers and sisters (they are three years older, which means they are ten inches).

Here's also a picture of **** (name is known from the Ventura crew) and his shorts
presenting this splendid item that is the seven inch.

Your eagle eyes will have noticed we haven't f***ed with you, we made it CLEAR.
And we also want to make it clear (ha) that it's a limited edition of 500 copies.
Which won't make it easier to sell.
Unfortunately, we have to remind you that we're only one ONE side of the thing.
The other one is occupied by John Sars.
We don't know who these guys are.
Sorry.

Still, we will try to sell those things, as they were very expensive to make (hence the subprimes' crisis).
You will probably find them here you're into telling the whole world what your
credit card numbers are.
Or you could try your luck at one of those shows we don't have.

Apart from that, Germany did beat the Turks 3-2, yesterday, at the St. Jakob Stadium in Basel,
where I used to live when I was a kid. No, I didn't live in the stadium.
And it's hot as hell these days.

We'd like to make a few musical suggestions too :

-(the) MELVINS "Nude with boots" (if you have (a) senile animal you don't need to buy this one, it's more or less the same record, but you can buy it for the cover. now by the way, where's that a senile animal 4xLP that HydraHead was supposed to release ??? )

-James Blackshaw "Litany of echoes"

-Bob Mould "District Line" (the best Sugar record in a very long time, apart from a few very annoying and useless effects on the vocals)

-Coalesce "Salt & Passage" (I have never listened to the same seven inch so many times as this one. Not only did I never imagine I'd hear a new Coalesce song one day, but they managed to re-invent themselves. Not to mention that they will release a whole new album some time soon...hope I live long enough to hear it.)

We wish you all the best, especially our beloved drummer, MIKEY, who is about to leave
for Viet-Nam to finish what the americans have begun.
We will miss him.But our hopes are high that he comes back.
Or not.

Now, all we have to add is ROGER FEDERER FOREVER.
(Roger, if you read this, could you send us something like, 25'000Chf, so we could go to the US to record another album, at Steve Albini's. Do it, we will send you our record in exchange)

Hope you are all very happy and all.

Los Venturas
